Removing fat from one area of your body to improve the appearance of another is an exciting prospect. Autologous fat transfer procedures are growing more and more popular because this technique offers multiple benefits. After all, who doesn’t have one or more stubborn areas? Our triple-board-certified plastic surgeon provides fat transfer options to add volume to the face, breasts or buttocks.
Fat Transfer Instead of Implants
Procedures such as buttock augmentation may be performed with implants to increase the area’s size and contour. While implants can give you your desired buttock size and shape, they come with some risks. Implants may require removal. Fat transfer avoids placement of a foreign object in the body. Fat can be injected in adequate volumes to enhance the buttock area. Your body recognizes the injected fat cells as your own. However, some fat grafts will be absorbed.
Fat Transfer Addresses Two Cosmetic Concerns at Once
Fat transfer can reduce lines and wrinkles and restore volume in areas of the face. Adding volume to the buttocks can enhance the shape and contour. There are other ways to improve these face and body concerns, but fat transfer procedures come with the added benefit of fat removal. Liposuction can be performed during the fat harvesting process to improve areas of stubborn fat.
Your Consultation with Dr. David Bray Jr.
Dr. Bray Jr. will discuss your plastic surgery options during your initial consultation. Many people will qualify for fat transfer procedures, but you must have enough excess fatty tissue to remove and relocate to the treatment area. Dr. Bray Jr. will evaluate the places where you’d like to add volume and donor sites to retrieve the fat.
