Some of your needs during breast augmentation recovery involve rest, hydration, nutrition and cleanliness. Our triple-board-certified plastic surgeon will walk you through the recovery process and what to expect during your consultation. However, there are several ways you can prepare yourself and your home. These tips will help you follow post-op instructions and avoid putting too much stress on yourself and your body.
Prepare a Restful, Serene Space
A post-op recovery station will help you make sure your needs are met. This area could be in your bedroom or around your couch or recliner. Gather everyday items you will need such as water bottles, snacks, tissues, your tablet or phone (and chargers) and a functional remote for the TV. Keeping a small trash can nearby will help you keep this space clean. Maintain a calming environment to help your body relax and promote healing.
Drink Plenty of Liquids
Hydration is an essential part of any surgical recovery. You need water to help your body heal. Purchasing straws that bend may be helpful so you can stay well hydrated without having to sit forward.
Nutritious Meals and Snacks at the Ready
Some breast augmentation patients prepare meals ahead of time. You can make nutritious and delicious recipes before your procedure and freeze them in meal-size portions to make your recovery easier. Foods that are healthy and easy to make are key during the healing process, so stock up on nuts, fresh fruit, sandwich ingredients and other foods. You may not feel up to cooking, and this makes sure you’re eating well with less hassle.
An Easy Wardrobe
Identify items in your wardrobe that are easy to remove without raising your arms over your head. You will need shirts or sweaters that zip up or button in the front that are loose-fitting. You should also purchase a few sports bras that zip in the front to wear after your procedure.
